Folks,

you might not believe what you’ll read in the next seconds, BUT

(screaming, earth shattering, crying women)

I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THIS YEARS APPLICATION PERIOD!!!

Today I was just browsing through the web and thought, “hey sarah, you should have a look at the diversity visa page, maybe there are some news, you should be aware of.” Well, yes, there were the news. The application period had already begun! I was not expecting the date to be so soon, since I remember the last time checking the results  (which I do over and over again in a exhausting amount of time within the year) not been too long ago.

Anyway, I immediately made an appointment at my photographer, since I need to have a picture taken within the last 6 months (and don’t dare to take the one of last year, I guess this has been the reason why I haven’t been picked in ‘09). Tomorrow I’ll enter the application and you can press thumbs so that I might have a chance to win the Green Card Lottery in 2012!
I pledge…

As soon as I noticed the chance of being chosen again this year for the diversity visa waiver program, I couldn’t stop but believe that this time, this time I would win it. It couldn’t be anything less than a lucky charm, my number would be one of the winning ones.
Unfortunately, you guessed it already, was I again not chosen to be a green card winner. Darn it!
This is so frustrating. I really really really wanted it. Maybe next year I just need to want this one “really” more…. any stories to tell guys, about frustrating try-outs (tests, search for appartments, money loans)?

I really love these shoes! Don’t know why I didn’t buy them immediately in the first place…

Wohoo!

Due to some problems with their programming, the results of the 2012 Diversity Lottery that were previously posted on the website have been voided, A new selection process will be conducted.

I get another shot at being a winner in the green card lottery next months, my 4th time. Exciting!

What I love about understanding another language is the fact that I am able to understand its’ humor. My host mum was always suprised when I kept “rolling down the floor laughing” (rofl), while watching an episode of King of Queen’s.

I discovered this comedian a while ago and can’t describe the story of “six to eight black men” which is so much fun to listen to. I know it’s almost summer and we’re over Christmas, but you can laugh about this every day of the year.

[Sedaris Quote] “While 8 flying raindeer are a hard pill to swallow, our christmas story remains relatively dull; Santa lives with his wife in a remote polar village, and spends one night a year travelling around the world; if you’re bad he leaves you cole, if you’re good… AND live in America, he’ll give you just about anything you want.”

This story has been separated into 3 videos,  with the first video talking about icebreaker-questions when meeting a stranger. Sedaris found out that the blind can legally hunt in Texas & Michigan, while in Michigan they’re allowed to go hunting alone….

I never thought I could be SO excited about winning the lottery, but I recently received an email telling me I won in the Greencard lottery. A feeling like christmas & birthday in one, or like coconut icecream with a chocolate heart and sirup, or like being the only shopper in the Kendwood Mall (Cincinnati, yeah!) and getting dicounts on everything I want. You get what I felt, right? :)

But within seconds, the natural feeling of doubt came to me, saying that it couldn’t possibly be true and there MUST be a mistake or joke.

Wanna guess what happend? I started researching and found out about the SCAM alert via emails on the U.S. Department of State sites (read more here: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_1749.html)

I guess I need to wait until May, 1st until I can recheck if I made it through Round 1.

Personal Note to all Scam email entrepreneurs:
You are mean people and I don’t like you!

I really like America. I think it’s a huge country, where everyone can find a spot to fit in.

I really wanna live there for some time. There are great people waiting to welcome you.

I really like the idea of an Ivy league and being part of this (C’mon! really?) or just to wear a Harvard sweater when running a marathon :)

But when I watch this video, which I found totday on spiegel.de, I am stunned, not positively though.

See how Chase Whiteside & Eric Stoll make conservatices look like a fool (or do they present themselves as fools?!)

About NASA (via there fb fanpage)

[Quote] NASA’s mission is to pioneer the future in space exploration, scientific discovery and aeronautics research. To do that, thousands of people have been working around the world and in space for more than 50 years, trying to answer some basic questions. What’s out there in space? How do we get there? What will we find? What can we learn there — or learn just by trying to get there — that will make life better here on Earth? [End of Quote]
